€4,971.00 allocated to Parent and Toddler groups in County Roscommon 03/11/2020
Irene Cafferky Manager of Roscommon County Childcare Committee (Roscommon CCC) on behalf of the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) is delighted to announce that under the 2020 National Parent and Toddler Group Initiative Grant, 8 Parent and Toddler Groups in County Roscommon were allocated a total of €4,971.00 in funding. Irene acknowledges ‘the important role parent and toddler groups provide in the community, creating opportunities for children of the same age and their parents/guardians to meet. Local Parent and Toddler Groups provide children with an opportunity to socialise with other children, while still having the security of their parents/guardians close by. The funding will support these groups in areas such as insurance, resources and provision of training that allows them continue in to the future’. Roscommon CCC congratulates the following Parent and Toddler Groups and look forward to continuing to support them.

Áine Mannion, Childcare Development Officer with Roscommon County Childcare Committee recognises that ‘This year, has been especially challenging due to covid-19 restrictions. Many groups have not met face to face but with the powers of technology, groups stayed in contact via ZOOM and WhatsApp groups. We look forward to 2021 and the possibility of groups being able to reopen in line with National Guidelines. These groups are a fantastic opportunity to build a child’s confidence while providing a stepping stone for children preparing for crèche or pre-school’.
