The profile of staff of Roscommon County Childcare Committee are as follows:

Manager – Irene Cafferky

Irene Cafferky has been employed with RCCC since 2002 and is Manager of the RoscommonCounty Childcare Committee (RCCC) since 1st May 2006.  Irene has overall responsibility for the strategic roll-out of all actions as laid down by the Roscommon County Childcare Committee.  Irene oversees all support received by clients and is involved in the successful granting of funding and completion of childcare projects throughout the County. Irene also works collaboratively with other agencies, securing support and resources for the provision of quality resources, overall strategic planning for County Roscommon and input into social policy that impacts childcare and all its stakeholders. In her day to day work on developing and co-ordinating childcare on a county wide basis Irene’s key areas of responsibility are categorised under four headings:                                                                                       

  1. Strategic Management in line with national and international childcare developments.
  2. Operational Management
  3. Project Management.
  4. Multi Disciplinary Team Management

Administrator/PA – Martina Towey

martina toweyMartina Towey has been employed with Roscommon County Childcare Committee since 14th August 2006 and is PA/Administrator since 8th October 2007. Martina is the front line staff member, who will welcome you to our office or receive your phone-calls.  She will deal with any queries you have and refer you to the relevant person when necessary. Martina provides administrative and secretarial support to the RCCC Manager and Board of Roscommon County Childcare Committee. She provides information and resources on childcare related topics to childcare providers, parents, relevant agencies and interested members of the public. In her day to day work Martina’s key areas of responsibility are categorised under the following headings:

  1. Secretarial & Administrative Support to the Manager & Board
  2. Financial Administration
  3. General Office
  4. Information Actions

Childcare Development Officer – Helena McArdle

Helena McArdle is the Childcare Development Officer who covers the DED areas of Athlone, Roscommon and Castlerea and all areas in between.  Her role is to assist the RCCC Manager in implementing the Roscommon County Childcare Committee’s (RCCC) annual work programme through yearly action plans and to assist with the development of quality childcare services for County Roscommon.

In her day to day work Helena’s key areas of responsibility are categorised under the following headings:

  1. Support childcare services to achieve quality in their services through local and national initiatives in line with RCCC strategic plan and the National Childcare Investment Programme
  2. Provide a comprehensive information service on quality childcare services, which will (a) offer guidance to Parents on choosing a childminding service, (b) promote careers in Childcare, and (c) promote Quality Standards and advice on Pre-School Regulations, including advice on developments and trends in childcare policy.
  3. Assist with the development & delivery of the County Childcare training strategy in line with national developments and best practice
  4. Support networks of childcare providers and develop links with local & national agencies with a childcare remit.
  5. Identify gaps in childcare provision in line with RCCC strategic plan and promote social inclusion through innovative initiatives in line with RCCC strategic plan.

Childcare Development Officer – Jean Kelly

Jean Kelly is the Early Years Quality Childcare Development Officer who covers the DED areas of Strokestown, Boyle and Ballaghaderreen and all areas in between.  Her role is to assist the RCCC Manager in implementing the Roscommon County Childcare Committee’s (RCCC) annual work programme through yearly action plans and to assist with the development of quality childcare services for  County Roscommon including the implementation of Síolta and Aistear.

In her day to day work Jean's key areas of responsibility are categorised under the following headings:

  1. Support childcare services to achieve quality in their services through local and national initiatives in line with RCCC strategic plan and the National Childcare Investment Programme.
  2. Provide a comprehensive information service on quality childcare services, which will (a) offer guidance to Parents on choosing a childminding service, (b) promote careers in Childcare, (c) promote Quality Standards, i.e. Síolta and Aistear and (d) advise on Pre-School Regulations, including advice on developments and trends in childcare policy.

Childminder Advisory Officer - Carmel Dunne

Carmel Dunne is the Childminder Advisory Officer and has been employed by Roscommon County Childcare committee since 17th February 2009.  Carmel’s role is to assist the RCCC Manager in implementing the annual work programme through the Childminding Initiative yearly action plans and to provide a support service to childminders in order to assist in the development of quality early years services.

                                                                      

In her day to day work Carmel’s key areas of responsibility are categorised under the following headings:

  1. Support childminders to achieve quality in their services through local and national initiatives including the Quality Awareness Programme for Childminders in line with RCCC strategic plan and the National Childcare Investment Programme.
  2. Provide a comprehensive information service on quality childminding services, which will (a) offer guidance to Parents on choosing a childminding service, (b) promote careers in Childminding, and (c) promote Quality Standards and advice on Pre-School Regulations, including advice on developments and trends in childcare policy.
  3. Assist with the development & delivery of the County Childcare training strategy in line with national developments and best practice
  4. Support networks of childminders and develop links with local & national agencies with a childcare remit.
  5. Identify gaps in childminding provision in line with RCCC strategic plan and promote social inclusion through innovative initiatives in line with RCCC strategic plan.
